Help for Heroes - Our Way of Helping

While most of our blog posts deal with the subject of finance in some way or another, today we want to blow our own trumpet a little bit while raising awareness for a very worthy cause that we at Access Credit Management are proud to support.  Most of you will have already heard of Help for Heroes (H4H), the British charity that was launched in 2007 to help provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been injured or wounded in the line of duty.

Help for Heroes was co-founded by Bryn Parry OBE (who served with the Royal Green Jackets for ten years before leaving to become a cartoonist) and his wife, Emma following a visit to injured servicemen and women at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.  Help for Heroes was originally founded to raise £10,000 for a swimming  pool at the Headley Court rehabilitiation centre in Surrey but as the public took this worthy cause to its heart, the money just carried on rolling in.  It enjoys the support of thousands of helpers and is a favourite with Royals and celebrities alike.  Prince Harry makes regular visits to H4H facilities as part of the selection process for the Invictus Games, an international Paralympic style multi-sport event in which wounded, sick or injured armed service personnel and veterans take part.  Bryn and Emma Parry have both been invested with the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for their services to charity.

Here at Access Credit Management, Help for Heroes is a charity that is close to our hearts – a worthy cause to support if ever there was one.  We were determined to raise some money to swell the H4H coffers so we decided that Help for Heroes would be the beneficiary of our annual fundraising Golf Days.  Last year on our fifth annual Charity Golf Day we all had a great time taking part in a golf tournament and managed to raise a whopping £1,917.04.  Not only did we all have a fab time, we all ended the day feeling that we’d made a contribution to an extremely important charity that helps service personnel across the UK.

Giving back is something that’s important to all of us at Access Credit Management – we like  to share the love and spread some good fortune and good wishes to those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  When we see a worthy cause, especially a local one, we like to join in and help.  We currently sponsor Sheffield United’s DSActive programme.  DSActive is a bespoke football and tennis programme for people with Down’s Syndrome and is administered by the Down’s Syndrome Association.  Sheffield United’s DSActive  was launched last October at the impressive Academy venue and sessions take place every Wednesday.  So far the sessions have been a huge hit with more than 15 children and young people participating.  It’s an enjoyable experience for both the players and their parents and we at Access Credit Management are proud to be involved.
